Orangefest 2006 - And the Making of an Orange Order Film in Irish
The club had an extremely busy period over the 12th of July celebrations in 2006. The first order of business was attendance at the Mini Twelfth demonstration in Saintfield on July 7th, at which club members were interviewed and took part in the initial filming of a new film about the Orange Order that is being made entirely in Irish. The film is the brainchild of LOL 145 member Lord Laird of Artigarvan and will explain the Orange culture in the Irish language. This is an outreach to explain and demystify Orange culture both within Northern and Southern Ireland.
On the 11th of July club members travelled to Drogheda in the Irish Republic and drummed lambeg drums at the site of the famous 1690 battle. The Irish Police were extremely helpful and looked after everything very professionally, and scenes from the drumming will appear in the LOL 145 film (a selection appear below).

The club joined with LOL 145 and Lord Laird on a 45 foot long float and provided traditional lambeg drumming and fifing enterainment along the route to and from the field (a total journey of over 14 miles). The club featured on BBC Northern Ireland Live Coverage of the 12th at the end of Royal Avenue and also appeared on UTV Live as part of a feature on Lord Laird's Irish language film on Orangeism.
